SBB Gourmet Catering Testimonial: The Dean Family
Published September 28th, 2009 by SBBGCG - No Comments

We often receive rave reviews of our work that we like to share on the weblog. The following is an unedited testimonial from one of our very satisfied customers.

“It is not easy planning a wedding from 3,000 miles away which is exactly what we did when we hired Sidney from SBB Gourmet, to cater our affair at the Figueroa Mountain Farmhouse in Los Olivos, Ca. The food was exquisite, perfectly seasoned, from fabulous hors d’oeuvres, to spectacular main courses, to homemade guacamole and chips. Their rib-eye steak was incredible, just perfectly grilled on the huge outdoor barbeque, along with cedar plank salmon and wonderful side dishes - not to mention vegan and vegetarian options we which we requested.

The months leading up to our event were filled with phone conversations, proposals, emails, and constant contact between our New York based family and Sidney and Bia, the catering managers. All questions were met with courteous, quick responses, and respect for my budget.

We had Sidney and Bia oversee the rentals and lighting, which was a great decision on our part because we felt we wanted only one vendor to contact, as opposed to several. They kept me in the loop at every turn.

My experience with SBB Gourmet was unparalleled. Perfectly executed catering, wonderful people, and fairly priced.”

Transition House and Unity Shoppe Events
Published August 14th, 2009 by SBBGCG - No Comments

Unity ShoppeWe were so busy getting the weblog up and going last month that we almost forgot to mention two catering events that really warmed our hearts during the month of June.

On June 7th we catered the Annual Family Picnic for Transition House. This event honors the amazing contributions of the volunteers, staff, donors, and clients that make up the heart of Transition House. This year was extra special, as Transition House celebrated their 25th anniversary in Santa Barbara. That is quite a milestone. Shalhoob Meat Company provided the tri-tip and chicken for the event and SBB Gourmet Catering and Grilling (that’s us!) had the fun of grilling on site, carving the meats, and serving the fabulous guests.

Transition House is a local nonprofit organization that provides food, shelter, and assistance to families in Santa Barbara who have lost their housing. It is a tragic fact of life that many Santa Barbara families suddenly find themselves without a home. Where would you go if this were to happen to you? The staff and volunteers at Transition House stand ready to help. They assist with emergency housing needs at their shelter and then provide a path toward independence through transitional living and affordable housing. They do a great job, and have an incredible 60% success rate in helping people get back on their feet. Check out their website at: http://www.transitionhouse.com/

Just a few days earlier on June 5th we catered the Unity Shoppe Golf Classic at Sandpiper Golf Course. The Golf Classic is a large fundraiser to benefit the operations of the Unity Shoppe. We donated our catering prowess to help make it a delicious event. Pulled pork sandwiches, homemade potato chips, and a colorful array of fresh peaches, plums, and apricots rounded out the lunch selection. It was a lot of great food and great fun in service of a great charity.

The Unity Shoppe is a local nonprofit organization that seeks to assist individuals in need. Their philosophy is that homelessness and welfare dependency can be prevented through the supply of basic needs like food, shelter, and clothing. If people don’t have to choose between paying the rent and feeding their children they can focus on staying in their current home and stabilizing their life. The Unity Shoppe assists over 19,000 people a year and maintains a local “Free” store that helps provide necessities like food and clothing. Check out their website at: http://www.unityshoppe.org/

To wrap up, these are fantastic local organizations that provide critical services to those Santa Barbara residents most in need. We love and respect what they do, which is why we will continue donating to their cause in the future. We hope that you will consider doing the same.

Questions To Ask A Prospective Caterer or Event Manager
Published July 17th, 2009 by SBBGCG - No Comments

sunsetWe approach each client individually as all of you have your own individual needs and desires as well as budgets. Sometimes it takes some time to “break the ice” when we start a relationship with a new client or engage with a previous client. Getting to know you is one thing and perhaps the most enjoyable part of our business. But getting to the important issues associated with your specific event is critical and we can’t leave any stone unturned in this process. To save time, we have prepared a list of questions that we have learned through the years to be very important in establishing the framework of our relationship with our clients as well as bringing clarity to the planning process. Getting these issues behind us at the early stages can free up time for us to build relationships with you, our friend and client, as well as trust in our skills and professionalism. The end result will be a worry-free event where you can enjoy the celebration and your guests.

SBB Gourmet Catering Serves Montecito on Independence Day
Published July 5th, 2009 by SBBGCG - No Comments

fireworks09SBB Gourmet Catering spent the July 4th holiday serving about 1000 patriotic citizens at the 14th Annual Montecito Village Fourth of July celebration in Montecito, California. This is the fourth consecutive year the event has been catered by SBB Gourmet Catering and we are very proud of this and our support of this wonderful tradition. The town’s citizens of all ages lined the local streets to watch the annual parade and then moved down to the adjacent city park to enjoy festivities, tug-of-rope competitions, great music, and our sumptuous barbeque hamburgers and hot dogs.

A special thanks to the Montecito Association, who orchestrates the event every year and all the other multiple supporters including the Montecito Rotary Club. From the pancake breakfast served up by the Montecito Fire House to the parade to the afternoon celebration – it was a great time.

A Weblog of SBB Gourmet Catering
Published June 30th, 2009 by SBBGCG - No Comments

flag-glassA very warm and friendly welcome to you, and a word of thanks for visiting the SBB Gourmet Catering weblog.

Our weblog was created with the primary purpose of providing useful information that will be helpful to our potential and current clients in planning their special event in Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara County, Ventura County, the Santa Ynez Valley and our beautiful surrounding areas including all of our local wineries and museums. A lot of businesses create blogs to advertise themselves and their services. We do a bit of that here, but we are of the opinion that you will be better served by us if you find the weblog to be informative and factual, and not filled up with a bunch of advertising hype. You can find out about the specifics of our services and success of our catering elsewhere at our company’s website at www.sbbgcg.com as well as checking out the testimonials page on that website. Our past clients and business partners are our best advertisers.

In our weblog we will:
• profile event locations and their unique offerings
• post interviews with vendors like floral artists, photographers, musicians and DJ’s
• provide photographs of venues and various event setups including rentals
• list event planners and post interviews with them too
• post some of our favorite and seasonal recipes

We provide food and beverage catering and event management services to hundreds of events each year ranging from small intimate dinners at homes to corporate events of 2,500-plus guests to beautiful and unforgettable weddings of 50-400-plus guests. We have been doing this for over eight years and have established an intimate knowledge of the contract services in Santa Barbara and its surrounding areas. We hope to share this with you in our weblog. It is our hope that the information provided will serve you and relieve you of some of the angst and worry associated with event planning.

Thank you for visiting us. Please contact us directly if you have any questions or would like to discuss booking an event. We look forward to serving you in any we can.
